Naked mole rats
One word to describe the naked mole-rat, Heterocephalus glaber, would be unique. Naked mole-rats have a social hierarchy unlike any other mammal, which could be more akin to wasps and bees. The mole-rats depend greatly on the practices of kin selection and altruism and have a division of labor so stout that pheromones and intimidation keep most sterile. However, the colony of naked mole-rats survive and thrive through their unusual, yet remarkable way of life.
